Apple Mystery Dessert
Dessert:
3/4 cup flour (lightly filled)
1 cup brown sugar (packed)
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
dash of mace (optional)
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
2 eggs
2 cups peeled, chopped Granny Smith apples
3/4 cup walnuts (chopped)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 inch pie pan.
1. In a large bowl combine the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, the 1/2
teaspoon salt, mace and cinnamon, mix well.
2. Stir in the vanilla and eggs, blend well.
3. Fold in the apples and walnuts, mix well.
4. Pour into the greased pan and bake for 30 to 40 minutes, until browned and
firm to the touch.
Cinnamon Hard Sauce:
1/4 cup butter or margarine (softened)
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
pinch of salt
1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
In a small bowl combine all ingredients. Beat at high speed until well blended. Press into molds or shape into a 2 inch roll. Wrap in plastic wrap and keep refrigerated until ready to serve. Should be firm before cutting into slices or removing from molds. Place a piece on each wedge of dessert.
