Blueberry Squares

3/4 cup shortening
2 eggs
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup sugar
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 can blueberry pie filling

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 x 13 inch cake pan.

1. Cream shortening and sugar until well blended, add eggs and mix well.

2. Sift the baking powder, sugar, flour and salt in a bowl.

3. Gradually add to batter, then add vanilla. Mix well, scraping the bowl often.

4. Divide the dough in half and pat 1/2 into prepared pan.

5. Spoon blueberry filling over dough then pat the remaining dough over filling. You can also roll out the dough between two pieces of waxed paper.

6. Bake in preheated oven for about 1 hour.

7. Cool and cut into squares.
