Chocolate Revel Bars
1 cup margarine or butter (softened)
2 cups brown sugar (packed)
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour (sifted)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups oatmeal (no instant packages)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 15 x 10 x 1 inch pan, jelly roll or very large cookie sheet with sides.
1. In a large bowl cream the butter and brown sugar.
2. Add the eggs and vanilla, beat until light and fluffy.
3. In a separate bowl combine the flour, baking soda, salt and oatmeal.
4. Stir into the butter mixture until well blended.
5. Pat 2/3 of mixture into prepared pan.
6. Set aside remaining 1/3 mixture.
Filling:
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 can (15 ounce) sweetened condensed milk
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cups nuts (walnuts or pecans)(chopped)
2 teaspoons vanilla
1. In the top of a double boiler, combine chocolate chips, condensed milk, butter, and salt. Heat until mixture is melted. Remove from heat.
2. Stir in nuts and vanilla.
3. Pour over oatmeal mixture in pan, spread evenly.
4. Dot with remaining oatmeal mixture. Spread as much as possible.
5. Bake for 25-30 minutes at 350° F. Cool and cut into squares or bars.
