A small amount of something; a spoon-sized quantity of a thick liquid or a soft solid such as ice cream or cream.
dot:
A small amount; a very small amount, especially of butter used for basting.
double boiler:
One pan on top of another; a pair of cooking pots, one fitting on top of and partly inside the other. Food cooks gently in the upper pot while water simmers in the lower pot.
dutch oven:
A heavy cooking pot; an iron or earthenware container with a lid, used for cooking stews or casseroles.
dash:
A small quantity added; a small quantity of something added to something else, e.g. to improve the flavor of food or drink.
deveining:
To remove dark vein from; to remove the dark thready gut vein from the back of the tail meat of a shrimp.
