Home Made Cocoa Syrup

1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup cocoa
1 1/2 cups hot water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla

Measure the sugar, cocoa and salt into a 1 quart sauce pan, mix thoroughly. Add hot water gradually to the dry cocoa mixture mixing to a paste, gradually adding the rest of the water. Put the saucepan on the stove using low heat. Cook 10 to 15 minutes. The mixture should thicken. Remove from the heat and add the vanilla. Best if stored in a glass quart jar, cool then cover. Store the syrup in the refrigerator.

Can be used to make hot cocoa or chocolate milk or can be used on ice cream as a topping.
