Maple Baked Apples
6 large baking apples (Rome or Fuji)
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup maple or maple flavored syrup
1/4 cup water
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
1. Wash and core and remove a one inch strip of peel around the top of the apples, this keeps the apple from splitting.
2. Brush tops and insides with lemon juice.
3. Place apples in a 8 x 8 inch square baking dish.
4. Combine the raisins and cinnamon in a small dish, mix well.
5. Fill the center of each apple with this mixture.
6. Pour maple syrup over apples.
7. Add the 1/4 cup water to the baking dish.
8. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until apples are tender. Baste the apples in the
mixture 3 or more times during baking. Serves 6, of course.
