Rhubarb Crisp

3 cups diced rhubarb (1/2 inch pieces)
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg (well beaten)
2 tablespoons flour
1/4 teaspoon mace
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/3 cup brown sugar (packed) or granulated sugar
2/3 cup flour
whipping cream (optional)

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Grease a 9 x 9 inch square pan.

1. In a large bowl thoroughly mix the rhubarb, the 3/4 cup sugar, egg, 2 tablespoons flour and mace.

2. Spread in the prepared pan.

3. In a large bowl, using your clean fingers, work together until crumbly the butter, the 1/3 cup brown or granulated sugar and the 2/3 cup flour.

4. Press down over the rhubarb.

5. Bake for 30 minutes or until the rhubarb is tender.

6. Cool and cut into squares. Garnish with whipped cream if you like.

7. Serves about 4
